COURSE SELECTION
The process for selecting courses for next year is in full swing at Westlake. This week counselors finished meeting one-on-one with sophomores to answer questions and review course requests; starting February 3 we will be doing the same with Freshmen. We encourage families to work together building a schedule that finds balance between academics, extracurriculars, and life using the Time Management Worksheet and Hours of Homework/Week document. These resources, along with others (including the Course Catalog) can be found at the top of this page. Students are expected to update their Career Plan (four-year-plan) in Skyward since we will pull courses for the 2020-21 school year from it. Students have until February 19 to make changes. When complete, both student and parent are required by State law to sign the four-year-plan; an eSignature can be made within the Skyward Career Plan (instructions here).

SENIORS

  • If the college(s) your student applied to are requesting a Mid-Year Report, please have your student submit this form to their counselor.
  • As your senior receives scholarship offers, they should fill out this form to document the amounts offered. The grand total of scholarships offered to the Class of 2020 will be announced at the graduation ceremony.

CURIOUS ABOUT A GAP YEAR?
Attend the Gap Year Fair on February 1 from 12:00-4:00 at St. Andrew's Episcopal School on Southwest Parkway. There will also be two panels: one discussing how taking a Gap Year impacts college admissions and the other featuring students who have taken a Gap Year. Students can pre-register here (this is encouraged, but not required -- registration can also be done on-site). Learn more about Gap Years here.

AP EXAMS
If your student dropped an AP course this semester and no longer plans to take the AP exam in May, please notify AP Coordinator Heidi Sauer (hsauer@eanesisd.net). A partial refund is available until March 2, 2020.

On January 24, the Theatre III/IV class visited Cedar Creek Elementary to perform two original plays which focused on social-emotional learning.
K-2 students saw "Dig a Little Deeper" which helped the audience learn about perseverance and patience.
3rd and 5th grade students saw "Frenemies," a play that helped students learn about what to do when you need to stand up to your own friends.
