Congratulations to the WHS Volleyball Team who beat Vista Ridge in it's District 25-6A opener. This win makes Coach Al Bennett the 4th volleyball coach in Texas history to earn 1,000 wins! As of this publishing, Coach Bennett stands at 1,001/277 for his career.

Girls' Cross Country

 

Girls Cross Country did excellently at the St. Andrews Invitational this past weekend. Varsity placed 3rd and Junior Varsity won their race! The pictures to the right are from the Varsity team and on the left is the JV team.

Hole in One!


Congratulations to junior Lauren Hinkle for becoming the most recent Chap to join the Ace Club! At last week's practice at Lions, Lauren used her pitching wedge on #13/117 yds to record her second ever hole-in-one. Witnessing the exciting shot were teammates Sadie Englemann, Jackie Feldman, Elena Castanon, and Bentley Cotton.

  Hurricane Relief Efforts                                                                             

WIT (Westlake Improv Troupe) kicked off the season with their performance on Friday, September 1. With the donations from the packed house, they raised $441 which has been donated to the United Way of Greater Houston Flood Relief Fund. A Big Heart for our Furry Friends


In just six days, five of Kitty Mellenbruch's English classes raised $450 for Austin Pets Alive to help with hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

At the Grapevine Classic Speech and Debate Tournament outside of Dallas, Juniors Ali Slimi and Miles Sigel advanced to the quarterfinal round of Public Forum Debate and earned a Tournament of Champions bid, along with 3 TFA State points.

FROM THE COUNSELING OFFICE

The Hills of Austin College Fair for students is September 26. Juniors (1st period) and Seniors (2nd period) will have access to well over 100 representatives from colleges across the country. We will send out a list and site map prior to the day so you can help your student identify schools of interest.


Freshman Parent Night is September 28 at 6pm in the PAC.
