Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors should be updating their four-year-plan (Career Plan) in Skyward before February 26th. When finished, both student and parent need to eSign the Career Plan in Skyward. Updating the four-year-plan and signing it are requirements by the State of Texas. Learn more here

SAVE THE DATES

  • March 26 is the NACAC College Fair Austin from 5:30-8:00pm at the Palmer Events Center. You can view a full list of colleges represented and register here. (Registering gives students a barcode that can be scanned by college reps at colleges of interest -- this gives colleges a student's contact information in order to communicate with them.)

  • April 1 will be our Junior Parent AND Student Night in the Concert Hall (PAC) at 6pm -- counselors hope to see you and your junior there.

TECH TALK

Over the past few weeks, Lisa Johnson and Chris Hanson, our campus Ed Techs, have met with all of the Juniors for the first annual "Junior iPad Basecamp." We covered a variety of topics such as appropriate online behavior and putting your best digital foot forward. We also discussed some tips for resume writing and what a professional academic online portfolio might look like.

Next week Thursday February 28th at 12:15pm CST we will offer a live webinar recap of the topics we shared as well as the insights gleaned from students.

WHS Winners at 2019

Regional Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE)

The Visual Arts Department is very excited to announce the winners of this past weekend's Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) Regional Art Competition.

The students brought their artwork to the event and met with a judge (one-on-one) who evaluated and critiqued their work. Pieces that won regional gold were then judged again to determine which pieces advance to compete at the state level.

This year, 1445 works of art were adjudicated in our region; of these, 118 pieces are advancing to compete at the state level. Of these 118 state qualifying artworks, 19 were created by the talented students of Westlake High School; that's over 16% of state qualifiers from our region coming from our school!  Additionally, 4 of our students had two of their pieces chosen to advance to state level competition! 93 of our art students won regional gold as well. These 15 students (19 pieces) below are our State Qualifiers.

Swimming and Diving State Championship Results
