January 25, 2019 Principal Steve Ramsey and Lead Counselor Heidi Sauer hit the PAC and the road to visit with parents throughout the district to share the Class of 2018 College Admissions & Advanced Placement Report and to discuss many myths surrounding WHS. EEF COUNSELING / COURSE SELECTION COURSE SELECTION 2019-20 This week, counselors met with juniors (1/23), sophomores (1/24), and freshmen (1/25) to discuss course selection and updating students' four-year-plan. ELECTIVES FAIR Tuesday, February 29th, all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will visit the Electives Fair in the Library during their math class to learn more about all the awesome courses we offer.
GAP YEAR Curious about a Gap Year? Attend the USA Gap Years Fair at St. Andrew's Episcopal School on Saturday, February 2nd. There is a panel presentation from noon to 1:00 and the Fair from 1:00-3:00. Learn more about a gap year here.
AP EXAM REGISTRATION If your student is enrolled in an AP course (not PreAP), registration for AP exams will run February 4 to March 4. You can find information here.

We are very thankful to Principal Ramsey and Lead Counselor Heidi Sauer for presenting at our general meeting last week. It was a fantastic presentation titled "The Class of 2018 - College Report" with tons of data, pertinent information and some myth busters! And we had an amazing turnout! It was great to see many familiar and new faces in the audience.

Warmly, Shalini Komarla President, WHS PTO COOL THINGS & KUDOS The Advanced Theatre classes at WHS took to the road this week and performed two original productions for Cedar Creek Elementary students.
The K-2 classes were an audience for "Someone Else's Shoes," a play about empathy and good sportsmanship.
The 3-5 classes got to see "Delia's Daydreams," which focused on tactics used in bullying prevention.

The Westlake Boys' Golf Team won the prestigious Aggie Cup Invitational Tournament played in Bryan over many of the top teams in the state. Led by Sean-Karl Dobson who finished 4th individually, the Chaps posted a 28 shot victory! Thomas Bockholt, J. Holland Humphries, Jacob Sosa, and Matthew Denton represented the Chaps and all players contributed with some excellent scores to the team win. Go Chaps!
Student Journalism Awards El Paisano yearbook staffers and editors were recognized in the recent Texas Association of Journalism Educators' Best in Texas competition.
