Welcome 2019! Wishing you all a happy new year filled with peace, joy and good health!

A special shout out to Diane Dealy, who has been a wonderful liaison and has done a fabulous job with getting announcements out to parents and teachers in a timely manner. I am very grateful for her service and commitment to our mission of enriching the educational experience of the students at Westlake High School.

Our first general board meeting for 2019 will be held on Friday, Jan 18th at noon in the Recital Hall. Principal Ramsey will host an informal Q&A starting at 11:30am followed by a presentation, in collaboration with the counseling department, titled "Class Of 2018 - College Report". This is the first presentation of its kind, with lots of pertinent information, good facts and actual numbers, and I sincerely hope many of you can join us for this meeting.

SCHEDULE CHANGES

Requests for a course change can be made through January 22
Requests to drop from a PreAP/AP course to the regular version of that course can be made through March 12.

Complete the schedule change form and turn it in to our office.

COURSE SELECTION

Course selection is just a few weeks away: information will be presented to

Juniors on January 23
Sophomores on January 24
Freshmen on January 25

On January 23 at 6pm in the Recital Hall (PAC) we are hosting a Parent Night for 9th-11th grade parents about course selection. We will have a brief presentation to share information followed by an opportunity for you to ask questions of the counselors around selecting classes and completing the four-year plan.

SENIOR PARENT MEETING

DIGITAL PDF PLANNER

Several students have requested a digital PDF planner.

We have finally created the first one just in time for the spring semester. An all student email went out on Tuesday with a link to download the planner and instructions for how to use it in conjunction with the Notability app on their iPad.

The planner is not a replacement for google calendar... more a digital alternative to a paper planner. Students can annotate the planner with text and handwriting. The digital PDF planner includes month and week views and links to the online WHS calendar and the testing dates found on the counseling site.
