Ready for a nice evening...

As part of the Westlake High School experience, we offer a true Back to School Night. All of our parents are invited to attend their child's classes as they follow their schedule for the evening. We have moved the evening to an earlier start time while also adding a few minutes to each class period-that may help with some of our students for the night who may be tardy! It is a good night for our community, and we look forward to your visit.

And you thought there were no parking spaces left & that sophomores couldn't get one...

The Westlake PTO is selling four reserved parking spaces for the 2018-2019 school year. 100% of the proceeds go to Westlake PTO and will fund needed items at Westlake. In past years, the parking spot sales have helped fund the staff lounge renovations, language lab, the library, and equipment for the Westlake STEM program, along with many more school projects.

The four parking spaces are in the TLC lot directly across from the Ninth Grade Center. If you would like to purchase one please go to CLICK HERE.

Thank you for your support of Westlake PTO!

Hello, Chap Families.  We hope that the start of the school year has been a smooth and easy transition, and if it has been busy or bumpy then welcome to the club!  Ha!  One way or another, we are off to another great year!

And, every year our teachers make amazing plans for new projects, need new equipment or they need new supplies.  That is where WHS PTO comes in!

  • ALL of the funds we make from concessions, pavers, Mums and our No Hassle Fundraiser go towards supplying the STUFF that our staff and students need to tackle the challenges that the year brings.

  • Our funds go directly into our classrooms, to our students and to some of the programs associated with our classes. WHS PTO is committed to spending dollars raised within the same school year through our allocations process. Staff apply for/request those dollars for classroom projects or campus initiatives.

  • We have  been able to tackle some large campus projects in the past several years
    • Art Gallery, Language Lab, TLC patio, Library Furniture
    • This year we are finishing up a remodel of the Staff Lounge!

  • We have helped to purchase calculators, Fine Arts equipment, classroom libraries, counselor training, radio kits, experiment packages, AV equipment, and the list goes on...

  • At Back to School Night...
    • Check out our signs around the school to see how your donations have impacted our campus.
    • Take a peek into the renovated Staff Lounge off the Commons hallway.  It is a work in progress, but we hope to be finished with it in the next few weeks as some delayed items make their way to us.
    • Please come visit our table in The Commons to help us "Fill the W" with your donations so that we can meet our goal and our campus needs.

  • Can't make it to Back to School Night?  You can always "one stop shop" at our website where you can purchase Homecoming Mums, a paver (get on it Junior parents, so they can see their paver installed Senior year), and make a donation to our No Hassle Fundraiser!

Thanks so much, and we hope to see you on Back To School Night!

Saanya Bhargava, Senior at Westlake speaks at TEDxYouth Austin
Saanya has addressed the issue of plastic pollution and its devastating environmental impact for the past few years. She founded a youth organization, impact.gravitas, at Westlake that helps brings awareness and fosters collaborative solutions to limit usage of single-use plastics.

Saanya is an ambassador for the Lonely Whale Foundation, Sustainable Ocean Alliance, and the Plastic Pollution Coalition. Because of her role in these organizations, she was invited to speak at the TEDxYouth Austin 2018 event. During her talk, she introduced "The Power of One" concept: how one individual still has the power to change the narrative and stem the tide of plastic pollution.

Saanya plans to apply this concept by encouraging local restaurants in her community to consider more bio-friendly alternatives to straws. Her goal is to make the city of Austin, completely strawless.

Freshman iPad Base Camp
Freshman iPad Base Camp will be held Tuesday 9/4.

Students will set up a digital portfolio, double check calendars, and learn the new features in Keynote and Notability that will help them be more effective in their daily studies and as they begin to work on creating content for student projects.
