August 24, 2018 Friday already?
Every year it seems we have a little change in our calendar. This year we have several, including a week long Thanksgiving Break, a conclusion of the year after Memorial Day, and a Wednesday start day.
BACK TO SCHOOL Notes & Reminders
Back to School Night - Save the Date! Wednesday, September 5th 6-8pm more info to come!
With a new school year comes new attendance rules mandated by the State.
Personal absences (trips, ACL, sleeping in, and anything else of a personal nature) can no longer be coded as "Documented absences, excused by the school". In the past these absences went towards your student's nine allowed absences per class per semester.
NOW....these absences will show up in your student's Skyward Family Access account as Unexcused, Not Funded by the State. Instead of an X, you will now see a U. The U also means these absences count towards your student's truancy numbers, and are automatically reported to the State.
Thank you for understanding that this is mandated by the State and must be followed by Westlake.
Click here for more info on Attendance.
Please Check Student Fees Be sure to check your student's Skyward Family Access account on a regular basis to make sure you have cleared all fees.
Class fees for 2018-2019 should be activated next week.
Welcome back from the Library! The Library is a source for student help and questions -- including lost iPads, passwords, and databases! The Library also provides a quiet study area for students during lunch periods. Let us know if you have any questions or needs! Visit our site to learn more about how we can help.
NEW BUZZ-IN SYSTEM
To increase safety, there are new Buzz-in systems at all EISD campuses.
Parents and visitors will need to use the buzz-in system at the two entrances (Chap Court or the Front Office) after the first bell rings in the morning to after the last bell rings for dismissal.
As before, all visitors will be required to sign in and wear a visitor badge while in the school.
WHS will be testing Sophomores and registered Juniors for the PSAT/NMSQT on October 10, 2018. Sophomore and Juniors will be sent an email with registration and test information.
