Westlake High School's literary magazine, The Final Draft,has been selected to receive a rank of Recommended for the Highest Award in the 2017 NCTE Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines. The National Council of Teachers of English congratulates the editors and the students who produced this exemplary publication! The mission of NCTE's Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines (PRESLM) is to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines, inspiring excellence in writing and school-wide participation in production. FROM THE COUNSELING OFFICE Course Selection for 2018-19 has begun at Westlake High School! Counselors met with Freshmen on January 17 and will meet with them again one-on-one between January 24th and February 2nd. On January 22 we will meet with juniors and on January 23 we will meet with sophomores. St. Andrew's Episcopal School will host the fifth annual Austin-wide USA Gap Year Fair on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from noon to 3 pm. About 45 gap year programs will be present at the fair, representing a wide variety of domestic and international gap year experiences.
