Westies Finalists Announced at Wonderfest!


3 Westlake students: Julia Breeden, Eve Churchill and Diego Miro and teacher Melinda Darrow are finalists for the Westies Award. Vote now for your favorites both online and at many area businesses. Join us  February 16th for the celebration!

AP Capstone Classes Bring Academic Reserach to WHS

Westlake recently introduced two new Advanced Placement classes that give students the opportunity to study and analyze academic works, as well as work on their own research. The classes, which comprise the AP Capstone course, are AP Seminar and AP Research. Read more here.....


2017 Subway Super Team Nominee

Congratulations to Running Back Nakia Watson, who has been selected to be on the final ballot for the 2017 Subway Super Team. He is one of 300 players picked for this honor from nearly 3,000 nominations submitted online. 


Online voting will determine the final members of the Subway Super Team, and will run through December 31st.  Fans will be allowed to vote one (1) time per day on the poll and Nakia will need the help of your school's staff, students and parents in order to propel him into a coveted spot on this year's Subway Super Team. 


Fund Raising for UNICEF!


On Dec 8, the student Westlake Improv Troupe, or WIT, faced off for charity against a newly formed improv troupe of teachers.

Many thanks to all the teachers and students for their hilarious efforts to raise funds for UNICEF!

Wrestling Results


The Varsity Wrestling Team competed in the San Antonio Roosevelt Rough Rider Invitational on Saturday. With only 6 of the 14 weight classes filled, the team placed 5th out of 16 teams. Senior Randall Pulido remained undefeated on the season, pinning his way to the Championship! Senior Bennett Siler also pined all of his opponents. Senior Liam Ziaja was runner up, as was junior Adrian Boles. Junior Kyle Zarzana placed 4th.

Paper airplane data collection

Fun and Information  with Stastistics

This is the Statistics 2 Class: Beyond AP Statistics class throwing three different models of paper airplanes.

The students were measuring the distance each plane flew to generate data for ANOVA analysis.


We are SUPER thrilled to feature our FABULOUS tech, Lisa Johnson, with an incredible study skills post just in time for finals!!

The Speaker Series is officially on pause until January 11th, after we return from winter break. We hope you enjoyed all of the fall speakers.
